IN THE HEART OF THE SEA is Based on a the classic novel "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville. The updated version was "In the Heart of the Sea" and that is how they got the title of the movie. It is the story of Two men, the Captian and the First Mate who went out on a whaling boat and it got attacked by a Huge White whale. The first mate had more seamanship experience but the Captain was from a wealthy family so he got to command the ship. This caused conflict and created good drama before the boat left the harbor.
In my opinion there are a few good things of the movie that I liked, I enjoyed the journey of the two men and the crew going out to sea and loved the action when they battle the great white whale. The most important character that I liked in the movie was Chris Handworth we all know him as THOR, but in this movie he played one of the two men, the first mate, and I just enjoy his character and his accent, every time he scream ed "whales": I was wowed.
I give it a 10 because just like GONE GIRL the movie has a tough adaptation of the book to film. The translation was great. Aside from that, I enjoyed Ron Howard s work on this movie because he also directed Apollo 18 and A Beautiful Mind. Whatever he directs, it's dramatic and intense.
Ok movie nerd fans what is your favorite book to film adaptation? or your favorite Ron Howard movie ?
